Agency to suspend COVID dashboard

The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency will no longer update the online COVID-19 Information Hub dashboard on Saturdays, Sundays or state/federal holidays as cases decline statewide, the agency announced Friday.

As the omicron variant surge of COVID-19 has subsided and vaccinations have reduced the average severity of infections, daily case data have become less crucial to managing pandemic response, the agency said in a news release. More weight is being given to data on hospitalization and similar measures reflecting COVID-19’s effect on the health care system and its capacity. These data tend to shift less rapidly and reflect longer-term trends, allowing a safe transition to weekday-only reporting.

Testing, case and fatality data remains available on DOH’s page at health.hawaii.gov/coronavirusdisease2019/current-situation-in-hawaii/.

HI-EMA said it may restore some data-reporting if conditions change.

Starting at $4.62/week.
