Swimmer in distress dies at Koki Beach
A swimmer who was reported to be in distress off Koki Beach in Hana died after she was brought to shore Tuesday afternoon, according to the Maui Fire Department.
Hana firefighters and medics responded to the call at 2:03 p.m., arriving to find bystanders attempting to revive the woman after bringing her to shore. Firefighters and medics took over attempts to revive the woman.
She was reported to have been in distress about 100 yards offshore, according to the Fire Department.
At the time, the ocean was reported to be calm with little to no surf.
