China Bowl restaurant allowed to reopen
A Lahaina restaurant that was forced to close earlier this month over health and safety violations has been issued a green placard and approved for reopening, the state Department of Health announced Friday.
China Bowl Asian Cuisine Restaurant had received a red placard on May 17 and was immediately closed due to a cockroach and rodent infestiation. A follow-up inspection on May 19 found evidence of an active population of rodents still present, the department said. However, all critical violations had been corrected by the time of a second follow-up inspection on Wednesday.
The restaurant, which is located at 2580 Kekaa Dr., No. 116, will send the department monthly pest control service reports and was advised to routinely clean areas of food debris and grease buildup.
