Three fishermen were rescued after a 16-foot boat overturned Sunday afternoon in waters off Paia, a fire official said.

Ocean safety officers on rescue watercraft were patrolling in the area when they came across the men who had been aboard the boat at about 1:30 p.m., said Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro.

He said the three were taken to shore at Baldwin Beach Park and didn’t require medical attention.

The Coast Guard was notified. The owner will be retrieving the vessel.
