A 44-year-old Maui man was rescued by Maui Fire Department personnel after he was injured and unable to walk after surfing at Keanae Peninsula Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 1:54 p.m. Tuesday with the Maui Fire Department’s Air 1 helicopter and Rescue 10 locating the man and lifted him from the shore in Keanae to a landing area nearby.

He was then transferred to paramedics and transported by Maui Medivac to Maui Memorial Medical Center for further treatment.

Engine 7 from Hana also responded to the incident.
