Maui welcomes Wall That Heals
Korean War Veterans No Ka Oi Chapter 282 member Jo Davidson touches The Wall That Heals during Thursday evening’s opening ceremonies at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku. Davidson said her husband, David Davidson, served two tours in Vietnam.
The traveling three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. is scheduled to be on continuous display at the stadium through Wednesday at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
Volunteers provided the manpower to assemble the 375-foot exhibit made of synthetic granite Thursday. Volunteers also made the visit possible and will be staffing its 24/7 schedule.
The Wall is inscribed with the names of more than 58,000 American men and women who gave their lives in the Vietnam War or remain missing. For a schedule of events, log on to: thewallthathealsmaui.com
