MANELE–After spending a week in Mānele, voyaging canoe Hōkūle’a was scheduled to depart Lāna’i Sunday morning and head to Mā’alaea that day as part of the Polynesian Voyaging Society’s Pae ‘Āina Statewide Sail.

For the last week, the crew has been sharing the history and mission of Hōkūle’a with the Lāna’i community and island visitors through dockside canoe tours, stargazing activities, and crew presentations. Each stop allows students and the general public alike to connect with the legacy of exploration, environmental stewardship, and aloha ‘āina that Hōkūle’a embodies.
