A woman struck by a motor vehicle Monday in Kahului has died of her injuries.

Artemis Kagel, 71, of Kahului died at 4:01 p.m. Tuesday at Maui Memorial Medical Center, according to Maui police.

Kagel was Maui County’s ninth traffic-related fatality, compared to five through the same time period last year.

Kagel was crossing Dairy Road north of the Maui Marketplace at 8:32 p.m. Monday outside of a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a white 2005 Toyota Solara traveling southwest in the left inner lane, according to police.

The female driver of the Toyota, a 63-year-old Wailea woman, did not report any injuries.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
