Maui County’s Department of Environmental Management’s Wastewater Reclamation Division is reminding customers it implemented a 9% rate hike for the new fiscal year that began July 1.

According to a news release, the rate increase was approved by Maui County Council to ensure that the county’s wastewater system is financially self-supporting. In accordance with county regulations, sewer user fees are structured so customers pay an equitable share of operations, maintenance and repair of the wastewater infrastructure.
