Seabury Hall girls XC third at Iolani Invite

The Seabury Hall girls cross country team finished third at the Iolani Invitational on Saturday at Hawaii Country Club on Oahu.

The three-mile Greg Char Championship girls race featured 15 teams and more than 120 runners from across the state. Seabury was led by senior Freya Carlsen, who finished sixth overall at 18:46.

Carlsen was followed by teammates Isabella Grossman, who finished 12th overall at 19:19, and Skyla Prather, who took 17th place at 19:54. Seabury Hall junior Kailana Hagan (35th at 20:30) and sophomore Aspen Carver (58th at 21:52) rounded out the runners for the Spartan girls.

Also in the girls race, Kamehameha Schools Maui sophomore Keilana Maldonado finished 10th at 19:08, and Maui High took 14th in the team scores.

Maui High was led by Mia Terawaki (78th) at 23:23 followed by Keisha Caliva (98th at 24:46), Taylor Kauanaulu (100th at 24:53), Rhyan Welch (102nd at 25:02) and Payton-Shae Padron (104th at 25:15).

In the boys race, Seabury Hall senior Finn Hensley was the fastest runner from Maui, and finished in 16:33.

As a team, Maui High took 12th place in the 21-team field, powered by Angello Alvarez, who finished 50th at 17:31, and Kaito Kina, who was 52nd at 17:39. Miguel Montano-Gonzalez (67th at 18:04), Makai Lindsey (71st at 18:07) and Carlton Kinkade (119th at 19:32) rounded out the runners for Maui High.

In the three-mile girls open race, freshman Brooke Hoida led Kihei Charter with a fourth-place finish at 20:57, and Halia Maldonado of Kamehameha Schools Maui took sixth at 21:38.

In the boys three-mile open race, August Eyerman led Kihei Charter at 18:29. Also for Kihei Charter, Braxton Cuomo finished 34th at 19:08, followed by John Jesse Makoa Hilliker (69th at 20:28), Maxwell HAnks (86th at 21:16) and Cooper Celario (24:33).
