A first for Lahaina, Hot Kupuna Nights coming on Nov. 20
The Maui County Office of Recovery and Hawaiian Music Perpetuation Society will host Hot Kūpuna Nights from 4-7 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Royal Lahaina Resort Ballroom.
The free evening will feature live music by Kuʻuipo Kumukahi and Friends and will be hosted by Alakaʻi Paleka. Light dinner and refreshments will be provided. Free parking is available. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.
HMPS is a statewide organization dedicated to preserving traditional Hawaiian songs and chants and fostering intergenerational connections. The society has hosted Hot Kūpuna Nights on Oahu and Hawaii Island before, but this will be the first in Lahaina.
Program specialists and representatives from Office of Recovery programs and local nonprofit organizations will be on site to answer questions and connect with Lahaina kūpuna and their families.
