Imua Family Services will bring the Color Festival Hawaii back to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on April 5 with free admission for the community.

The family-friendly festival will begin at noon and feature live music, food trucks and activities throughout the day, including appearances by the Easter Bunny, an aerial egg drop provided by Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and a mass color throw scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Inspired by the Indian festival of Holi, the throwing of colored powder symbolizes love, unity and the breaking down of barriers. Organizers say the event celebrates diversity, inclusion and connection while bringing the community together.

The day will feature performances by The Daddies, Shea Derrick & Full Flavor Band, Justin Morris & Company, Pat Simmons Jr., and DJ Boomshot.

The festival serves as Imua Family Services’ signature “friend-raiser,” highlighting the organization’s mission to support children with special needs, disabilities and developmental delays. Founded during the polio pandemic, Imua has supported Maui families for nearly eight decades.

“The rainbow represents hope, new beginnings, and the idea that everyone belongs,” says CEO Dean Wong. “That message is at the heart of Imua Family Services. The Color Festival Hawaii is a joyful reminder that no one is left out and that our community is strongest when we come together.”

Food trucks will offer a variety of local dishes, and eco-friendly color powder will be available for purchase for the group color throw.

The event is presented by Imua Family Services and co-produced by Justin Morris, with support from sponsors Alaska Airlines/Hawaiian Airlines, Maui Health, Minit Medical Urgent Care, Pacific Media Group, Pasha Hawaii, ProService Hawaii and the Stable Road Foundation.
