Six people were displaced when a house fire destroyed a home on Kanaio-Kalama Park Road at 8:35 a.m. Monday.

According to Maui Fire, the single-story, 1,300-square-foot home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene.

Three engines, a tanker and helicopter responded to the blaze along with other department personnel. Firefighters extended hoses to extinguish the fire and the surrounding brush.

A helicopter made additional water drops on the structure because of the remote location and lack of water resources at the home.

One man suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The individuals who were displaced are being assisted by American Red Cross.

The fire was under control at 12:15 p.m. and extinguished at 2:31 p.m.
