South Maui asked to limit water use Friday, April 3, due to mainline repair

The Maui County Department of Water Supply is asking everyone in South Maui to try to conserve water by limiting nonessential use from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 3, while crews work to repair a mainline break.

The work may cause a temporary loss of water service or reduced pressure in areas mauka of Līpoa Street, between Lipoa Street and Kilohana Drive, and throughout Wailea and Makena.

Affected areas include the Maui Research and Technology Park, Kihei Charter School and surrounding businesses and residents in Kihei, Wailea and Makena.

Maui Meadows is not expected to be affected. However, residents are still asked to conserve water during this time.

“While water storage tanks are currently full, they may deplete rapidly if water is not conserved during this period,” DWS Director John Stufflebean said. “These conservation efforts will help maintain water availability for essential needs while repair work is underway and service is restored.”

Customers are asked to refrain from nonessential water use, including watering lawns and washing vehicles. Additional conservation tips can be found at tinyurl.com/3mkfm4nm.

Starting at $4.62/week.
