Maui police officer charged with sexual assault

1 min read

A 12-year veteran of the Maui Police Department was arrested Monday on a $150,000 warrant and charged with four counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual assault, according to the Maui Police Department.

As previously reported, MPD veteran Devin A. Schoeppner, 49, of Kahului, has been on administrative leave since May 2025, when he was arrested on a charge of first-degree sexual assault. His department-issued credentials and firearm were removed pending the outcome of the investigation.

"Any Maui Police Department employee who violates the law will be held accountable," Police Chief John Pelletier said in a statement. "It is deeply troubling whenever an individual entrusted to serve and protect the public is accused of such conduct."

The investigation remains ongoing.
