Free renter’s rights training set for Oct. 17

Maui Housing Hui will offer a free renter’s rights training from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at Lahaina Brewing Co. at Kula Malu, 30 Kupaoa St., Suite 101, Pukalani. The training is open to tenants and landlords and will cover housing rights, disaster recovery responsibilities, ways to address housing issues and resources for navigating landlord-tenant concerns. Hawaii public schools post gains in math, attendance

Hawaii public school students showed continued progress in mathematics and attendance during the 2025-26 school year, with proficiency levels in math and language arts approaching pre-pandemic levels, according to the state Department of Education's latest Strive HI results. Statewide math proficiency reached 42.5%, up from 42.2% last year and 38.5% in 2021-22.
