Three Maui County graduating seniors are among 10 students statewide to receive the 2026 Bayer Hawaii Life Sciences Scholarship. The Maui recipients to receive $1,000 scholarships include Sloane Jucker of Maui Preparatory Academy, Kody Manegdeg of King Kekaulike High School and Jasmyn Yun of Maui High School. Hawaiian Electric crews will replace a utility pole along Kekaulike Avenue between Puanani Place and Haleakala Highway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 10-12. The makai lane between mile markers 6 and 7 will be closed during the work, along with the bike lane, shoulder and sidewalk. Flaggers will direct traffic, and motorists should expect delays.
