Ninth arrest made in assault, riot investigation

A 16-year-old Lahaina boy was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of riot in connection with an assault and riot last month at a West Maui resort. The latest arrest is the ninth reported by police in connection with the July 17 incident at Kā‘anapali Ali‘i, a luxury beachfront condominium and resort at 50 Nohea Kai Drive. Eight juveniles ranging in age from 14 to 17 — including four 14-year-olds — and a 20-year-old Makawao man have now been arrested during the investigation.
