Maui County Council Vice-Chair Yuki Lei Sugimura will hold a Talk Story with Yuki Lei outreach program from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at the Upcountry Farmers Market. Hawaiian Electric seeks renewable energy proposals for Lanai

Hawaiian Electric is beginning the process to seek proposals of a large-scale renewable energy project on Lanai to reduce the use of imported fossil fuels, cut carbon emissions and stabilize rates. According to Hawaiian Electric, it is seeking renewable dispatchable energy generation of up to 35,800 MWh annually of solar paired with energy storage that would be in service by December 2030. MPD warns drivers to buckle up

The Maui Police Department is collaborating with law enforcement nationwide to increase seat belt and child safety seat use in Maui County. From May 11 to May 31, Maui police will participate in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Click It or Ticket” campaign.
