Gov. signs bill extending bribery statute of limitations

Gov. Josh Green has signed a bill extending Hawaii’s statute of limitations for bribery offenses to nine years, giving state investigators and prosecutors more time to pursue corruption cases. According to the governor’s office, Senate Bill 2494, now Act 225, addresses cases in which federal bribery investigations may continue beyond the time allowed under state law. Go Green recycling event July 18 in West Maui

West Maui residents may dispose of bulky recyclable items for free during a Go Green Recycling event from 8 a.m. to noon July 18 at 300 Lahainaluna Road near the Pioneer Mill smokestack. Participants should enter from Kuhua Street. Drop-off appointments are required. Accepted items include air conditioners, lead-acid batteries, washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves, refrigerators, stoves, water heaters, tires, scrap metal and electronics such as televisions, computers, printers, copiers and monitors.
