Two swimmers rescued in less than two hours at Maui beach parks

Ocean safety officers responded to two separate emergencies Wednesday, including one at Baldwin Beach Park and another Kanaha Beach Park, according to the Maui County Department of Fire and Public Safety. The first incident was reported at 9:51 a.m. at Baldwin Beach Park, where Ocean Safety officers noticed a 57-year-old man in distress in the shorebreak several hundred yards from the lifeguard tower. Wildfire-affected homeowners invited to contractor open house July 15

The Maui County Office of Recovery will host a Meet Our General Contractor Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. July 15 at the Office of Recovery’s Lahaina Resource Center, Lahaina Gateway, 325 Keawe St., Suite B102. The county said homeowners impacted by the 2023 Maui wildfires who have not yet started to rebuild are encouraged to attend and meet representatives from Goodfellow Bros. County pools to close briefly for training, testing

The Maui County Department of Parks and Recreation has scheduled several brief pool closures in the coming weeks. All county pools on Maui and Molokai will be closed July 26 and Aug. 2 for staff training. Coach Soichi Sakamoto Pool in Wailuku will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon July 30 for lifeguard recruitment testing.
