Free caregiver safety workshop set for July 30

Ohana Care Maui will host a free workshop July 30 in Kihei to help family caregivers, seniors and care partners safely assist with everyday movement and transfers. “Safe Transfers Save Everyone” will be from 4 to 4:45 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session, at Holiday Kalama Heights. The workshop is free and open to the community. Participants will learn safer body mechanics, techniques for reducing back and shoulder strain, proper positioning for standing and pivot transfers, and how gait belts and supportive footwear can improve safety. The Central Rotary Clubs of Maui will host a Paint Party Friendraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. July 16 at Lokahi Pacific Pono Center in Wailuku. The event is intended to offer a casual introduction to Rotary and address how to engage people, particularly younger professionals and community members, who care about impact but have limited exposure to service structures. Bissen campaign plans Hana Hou Night

The Bissen 2026 campaign will host Hana Hou Night at 5:30 p.m. July 15 at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku with doors opening at 5 p.m. The campaign event will feature food, local entertainment and opportunities for attendees to meet with supporters of Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen’s re-election effort.
