Ocean safety officers responded to two separate emergencies Wednesday, including one at Baldwin Beach Park and another Kanaha Beach Park, according to the Maui County Department of Fire and Public Safety. The Maui County Department of Parks and Recreation has scheduled several brief pool closures in the coming weeks. All county pools on Maui and Molokai will be closed July 26 and Aug. 2 for staff training. Coach Soichi Sakamoto Pool in Wailuku will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon July 30 for lifeguard recruitment testing.
