Talk Story with Yuki Lei Sugimura at Upcountry Farmers Market on Saturday
Maui County Council Vice-Chair Yuki Lei Sugimura will hold a Talk Story with Yuki Lei outreach program from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at the Upcountry Farmers Market. Sugimura is inviting the public to come and share their thoughts on county issues at the event at the Kulamalu Town Center, near Longs Drugs, in Pukalani. “The UFM is a great outdoor venue for sharing concerns, giving feedback on local issues and supporting local small businesses,” said Sugimura. Kahului man dies in Kuihelani Highway crash
A man has died after a crash Thursday morning on the Kuihelani Highway. Maui police identified the man as Victor Harris, 27, of Kahului. The crash happened at about 6:06 a.m. Thursday near Kuihelani Highway and East Waiko Road. According to the preliminary investigation, Harris was driving a 2015 Nissan Versa south on the highway when the Nissan failed to slow down in traffic and hit the back of a 2024 Thomas bus.
