Woman critically injured in Sunday wreck

A 55-year-old Haiku woman suffered critical injuries in a wreck Sunday night on Honoapiilani Highway near North Kihei Road. According to police, the woman was driving a gray 2015 Volkswagen Jetta south on the highway when she approached the intersection with North Kihei Road. The Jetta drifted left across the grass median into oncoming traffic, sideswiping a white 2016 Dodge van before colliding head-on with a gray 2022 Volkswagen Atlas. Authorities searching for missing swimmer off Maui

The U.S. Coast Guard and local authorities are searching for a 75-year-old man who went missing Friday while snorkeling off Maui. According to Maui police, John Weems was last seen snorkeling near Black Rock at Kaʻanapali Beach. He is described as white, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 170 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. Police said Weems was reported missing Friday evening after he failed to return home. Family members said he texted at 1:30 p.m. saying he was going snorkeling.
