Kenneth Kalei “Superstar” Hoopai Sr., 74
Kenneth Kalei “Superstar” Hoopai Sr. of Wailuku passed away peacefully at his home on July 27, 2016. He was born on July 21, 1942 in Hana Maui.
He is survived by his Children, Nick (Cheryl) Hoopai, Steven (Noelani) Hoopai, David (Denise) Hoopai, Dayna Kaia, Beatrice (Norman) Hoopai, George Hoopai, Bruce (Kai) Hoopai, and Starlet Hoopai; Siblings: Catherine “Lina” Tanoue, Virginia “Blondie” Kuaana, Joseph Manaois Sr. (Maizie – Deceased), Solomon (Kathleen) Hoopai Jr., Melanie-Jean Hoopai, Louis “Anson” (Jojo) Hoopai Sr., Lynette Malaikini, Barbara Ann Benton, Robin (Harold) Sylva, Martha (Chuck) Mizner; 18 Grandchildren; and 8 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Violet Luana Hoopai; Son, Kenneth Kalei Hoopai Jr.; Grandaughter, Diana Hoopai; Parents, Solomon and Beatrice Hoopai Sr.; and Sister Maizie Manaois.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the Maui Tropical Plantation grass area from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The family requests casual attire. Flowers and/or Lei’s are welcome. No Wreaths. Family suggests to bring chairs and pop up tents. Live music will be provided.
