Michael Arnold Gunn, 60

Michael Arnold Gunn, 60, of Napili, left this world peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at home. Born on September 27, 1956 in Pasadena, California to Arnold and Marjorie Gunn, he lived most of his life on Maui, where he came to surf in 1976 and never left.

Mike was a charismatic man who loved being around people. He was a Bellman at the Maui Marriott for 33 years. In his spare time he enjoyed playing music “with the Boys,” playing in the ocean, spending time with his family, random conversations, and sugar.

Mike leaves behind his wife Momi Blando, sons Casey (Shayda) Gunn and Makaiwa (Kanoe) Gunn, stepson Tyrone Blando, daughters Michaellyn (Rob) Burke, Monique Blando, and Maikael Gunn, brother Bob Gunn of Santa Barbara, CA, sister Cheryl (Patrick) Hanes of Bigfork, MT, 15 grandchildren: Issac, Mana, Cowboy, Kailani, Keana, Kalei, Moses, Ki’ihele, Kawelu, Lohiau, Jonah, Max, Makoa, Kaleohano, and Kaimana, and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who’ve become family. Mike was a loving father, husband, papa, and friend to all.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 11am until 3pm at Hanakao’o (Canoe) Beach.
