Puanani Mukai, 75
Puanani Mukai of Pahoa died Aug. 19 at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pahoa, she was a retired security officer at Pahoa High and Elementary Schools.
Private memorial services were held. She was preceded in death by her husband Minoru Mukai. Survived by children, Valerie (Karl Kubo) Mukai of Wailuku, Roxane (Wesley Doonan) Mukai of Maryland, Christy (Troy Amaral) Hirae of Hilo, Randy Mukai Nevada; brother, Joseph (Ines) Eldert of Washington; sisters, Blanche DeConte of Honolulu, Verdarine Peralto of Pahoa; sisters-in-law, Betty Kamahele of Kona, Lorraine Sueoka of Kaneohe, Jane Hurtle of Honolulu, Hiroko Kujubu of Hilo, Sarah Bernabe of Waianae, Mary Mukai of Hilo; three Grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, numerous nieces & nephews.
