Esther Ekekela Dolly Auweloa Naeole, 70
Esther Ekekela Dolly Auweloa Naeole, formerly of Kula, passed away on June 16, 2023 at her residence in Kahului. She was born December 20, 1952 in Hana, Maui. She worked at Kula Hospital and later as a bus driver for Roberts Hawaii School Bus before she retired. She was also a caregiver and homemaker caring for several of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and later her husband, Edwin Naeole. Esther was also an ordained minister and served in the Yoke of Jesus Christ Church on Maui.
She is survived by her son, Haia Auweloa (Carolyn), step-son Kaliko Naeole; her hanai daughter, Kristy Wong; grandchildren, Harli Bicoy (Kawika), Diane Pascual (Tranquilino), Harry D. “Cowboy” Auweloa, Des (Tuff) Auweloa, Ku’uleialoha Ka’aukai, Grace Auweloa, Kulamanu Naeole, Kamakalei Stone, and Kaimalie Stone, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her husband Edwin Naeole, step-daughter Gwen Naeole, and eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Ballard Family Mortuary, Kahului; service will begin at 11 a.m. and cremation will follow.
