Brad D. Million

Brad Douglas Million died unexpectedly at the age of 64 on May 17, 2024. He was swimming laps in a local pool in Palm Coast, Florida when he died from a probable cardiac event. Brad was previously a resident of Maui for many years before he left for Florida to be closer to his aging parents.

Brad was born August 11, 1959 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Majorie Bacon Million and Rodney Reiff Million, MD. He has three siblings, Jeff, Lynn, and Steve. The family moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1964. In 1977, he graduated from Buchholz High School where he played on the tennis team (genes from his mother). He attended Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne where he met life-long friends living in the ‘Animal House’. He later graduated from Florida State University in 1983 with a degree in accounting.

Brad initially worked with Purvis Gray & Co., CPAs in Gainesville before moving to Maui, Hawaii where he obtained his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license while working for Niwao & Roberts, CPAs, a P.C. for approximately 15 years. Brad was a manager of the CPA firm and occasionally took short trips to surf around the world. Brad returned to live in the Hammock, Palm Coast, where he worked for Reddish & White CPAs for the past 21 years. Due to his dedication and professionalism, he excelled in auditing various Maui businesses, nonprofit organizations, and governmental entities.

Brad loved to fish and surf. His ‘fishing genes’ came from his father who taught him how to work a boat, rig a Bimini twist, and whip a flyrod. He rose early with an eye on the tides, seas, and weather to determine his sport of choice for the day. You could often find him fishing around the North Shore of Maui while living in Hawaii, where he could catch both dinner and a few waves before work. Brad was also an avid surfer and standup paddleboarder honing his skills in Hawaii, California, and Central America. He died while training for an upcoming surf expedition to the Indian Ocean. Brad was a quick wit, hilarious story-teller, and friend to everyone he met. Always smiling and laughing, he filled the hearts of everyone he met with joy. We will all miss him dearly.

Brad is survived by his mother Marjorie; siblings Jeff (Jill), Lynn, and Steve (Stephania); nieces Emily (Kalin), Shelby (Brett), Kristy, and Caroline, and nephews John and Jack; grandniece Charlotte and grandnephews Tyler and Theo; and cats Skillet and Rufus. Brad was predeceased by his father Rodney.
