Charles Warren Souza

Charles Warren Souza, 79, of Makawao, Maui, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2024, at home under the care of Hospice Maui & surrounded by family. He was born on November 16, 1944 at Paia Hospital, Maui, Territory of Hawaii to Benedict Nelson Souza, Sr. & Eva Fernandez Souza.

“Charlie” attended H.P. Baldwin High School, graduating in 1964. He then went on to attend Maui Vocational School, receiving his Technical School Certificate in 1965 & in the late 1960's served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. In later years he worked for numerous Tour Bus Companies: Maui Island Tours, Roberts Hawaii, GreyLine Hawaii & Akina's before working as a bus driver for Dollar Rent-a-Car & retiring in the late 2000's.

He is survived by his 2 children: daughter, Rachael (Ethan) Ajifu of Makawao & son, Charles “Chucky” Souza of Makawao; 4 grandchildren, Melodee “Kalei” (Jason Alconcel), Victoria “Mahea”, Joshua (Jolene Bantilan) & Logan Ajifu, 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Louise Souza of Eastvale, California; and numerous cousins, niece's & nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Heneritta “Mana” Souza, his parents and brother's Benedict N. Souza Jr. & James F. Souza.

We wish to express our deepest gratitude to Hospice Maui nurses & nurse Janel for their loving care of our beloved father, Charles.

A Memorial Service will be held at Ballards Family Mortuary, Kahului, on Monday, 06/24/2024 @ 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Urn burial on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 1:00pm at The Maui Veterans Cemetery in Makawao.
