Irene Leilani Laborte

Irene Leilani Laborte, 83 of Lahaina, Maui, passed away on January 5, 2025 at her home in Wailuku surrounded by her family, under the care of Hospice Maui. She was born on May 30, 1941 in Waimea, Kauai.

Visitation will be held from 9-11am on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Ballard Family Mortuary; services to start at 11am; cremation will follow.

Irene was a retired Housekeeper at the Sheraton Maui. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rudy Catalino Laborte; parents, Masaichi Kim Kapahu & Violet Cabrera; brothers, Dennis Furtado, Leslie Furtado; and son, Ivan Cabrera. She is survived by her children, Tamara Laborte, Kathy Matsuoka (Milton), Jason Cabrera (Lisa), Roxanne Delos Reyes, Jaylou Cabrera (Kili), Jordan Laborte; sister-in-law, Mareli Furtado; 4 siblings, Florentino Donato Cabrera (Pat), Thomas Mario Cabrera, Clyde Sonny Cabrera (Betty), Laurinda Makahanaloa; 13 grandchildren,Sebastian Proto-Cabrera, Ikaika Cabrera, Masa Cabrera, Waileka Cabrera, Maverick Matsuoka (Haley), Matthew Matsuoka (Traci), Major Matsuoka (Kat), Joshua Delos Reyes (Helena), Justice Texeira, Joey Texeira, Joanne Texeira,; 17 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.

The family would like to thank Hospice Maui for the generous love and support they have shown to our mother and the family. We would also like to thank Dr. Poon, Nurse Noelle and the many others that cared for our mother while she was in the hospital.
