Robert “Bobby” Gomes

Born July 18, 1943, in Wailuku to Donato Gomes and Victoria Kaimikaua Albis of Paukūkalo, Robert was a proud Baldwin High School (’62) graduate and a veteran of the Army National Guard. He married his sweetheart Mary Ann on October 24, 1964, sharing more than 60 years of aloha and opening their home to foster keiki.

Robert worked over 50 years in the welding industry, later founding Maui Welding Rentals and Sales and Welding Industrial Sales. A true kupuna of his community, he enjoyed coaching soccer, golfing, shoreline fishing, and talking story with everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann; keiki Bobby, Bert, and Lani; four mo’opuna; and brothers Thomas and Ben Gomes.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at 200 Iao Valley Road, Wailuku.
