Rosita Bachiller passed away on August 2nd, 2023 at Maui Memorial Hospital. She was born on Aug. 20,1932, to Teofilo and Demetria (Asibal) Gonzales in Paia, Maui, Hawaii. She attended Farrington High School. In 1959, Rosita met and married Benie Bachiller, the son of Thomas and Ramona (Millare) Bachiller, in Honolulu, HI. Together, they have three children, including step children from Benie’s previous relationship. Colleen Harumi Kina of Kahului, Maui passed away on August 29, 2023. She was born on September 10, 1953. She retired from the Department of Land and Natural Resources as a Secretary. Gregory Mabrey, 56

It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of Gregory William Mabrey, 56, of Kula, on September 1, 2023. Greg was a landscaper for many decades, working at tree trimming, excavation, irrigation, horticulture, and garden design. He loved working outdoors and had many friends in the business. Greg always had his dog Nani with him wherever he’d go. If Nani wasn’t welcomed, he felt unwelcome and wouldn’t go; she meant the world to him. He was always there for anyone in need. Jerry Shoichi Matsumoto, 85

Jerry Shoichi Matsumoto of Wailuku, Maui, passed away in Honolulu on September 1, 2023. He was born on Dec. 25, 1937 to Shoji and Kikuyo Matsumoto in Paia, Maui. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Han and son-in-law, Kenneth Han; and his grandchildren, Canaan and Cassie Han. He is predeceased by parents Shoji and Kikuyo Matsumoto and wife Doreen Matsumoto. Private funeral service to be held.

Yoshie Shoji, 98

Yoshie Shoji passed away peacefully on July 27, 2023 in Kahului, Maui. She was born in Puunene, Maui to Kazuto and Natsu Ogata. She was predeceased by her husband, Tadao Shoji, as well as by her 6 brothers and sisters. She is survived by nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Roselani Place for taking good care of Yoshie for many years. Mahalo to Hospice Maui for caring for her at the end of her life. Ronald Seiji Vea, of Waiehu, passed away on August 5th, 2023. He was born on January 9th, 1953. He is survived by his children, Shelly (Rory) Camara, Jeremy (Danielle) Biringer; his siblings, Shirleen Fukutomi, Randall (Marlene) Vea; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
