Desiree (Desi) Yoshino Miyamoto was born in Wailuku, Maui, and moved to Honolulu where she earned her degree at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Desi was a lifelong learner, taking classes in math whenever possible, and taught both school-age children as well as tutored adults trying to get their GED. Esther Ekekela Dolly Auweloa Naeole, formerly of Kula, passed away on June 16, 2023 at her residence in Kahului. She was born December 20, 1952 in Hana, Maui. She worked at Kula Hospital and later as a bus driver for Roberts Hawaii School Bus before she retired. She was also a caregiver and homemaker caring for several of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and later her husband, Edwin Naeole. Brian Hideo ‘Hide’ Shima, was born on September 3, 1925, to Mr. Toku and Mrs. Ushi Shimabukuro of Lahaina, Maui. He passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023, at Hale Makua, Kahului.
