Matilda Ku‘ulei Bruhn, 95

Matilda Ku‘ulei Bruhn, 95, of Waikapu, Maui and Waimanalo, O’ahu died on December 25, 2019, at home. Born in Honuapo, Ka’u, she was retired from Hale Makua on Maui. Preceeded in death by sisters Mary Harry and Leilani Iao, and brother Rueben Cockett. She is survived by sister Elma Aoki, son Jimmy Bruhn (Stacey), daughters Bootsie Kauwe (Kula), Ellen Kauka (Ken), Lee Yee (Tony, deceased), Cindy Weiding (Dwight), 16 grand-children, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Jackson Rockwell Hazen died on December 9, 2019. Born April 7, 1922 in Lebanon, New Hampshire, to Albert and Dorothy Hazen, Jack is survived by his wife, Lorna Hazen; sons Mike Hazen (wife Janice), Calvin Hazen (wife Lori), and Ed Hazen (wife Leanne); and daughter Leslie Minton (husband Ken). His grandchildren are Megan, Tyler, Austin, Carrie, Michelle, Chelsey and Emily. Toshimasa James Nitta of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on January 2, 2020 at Hale Makua in Wailuku. He was born on February 5, 1927 to Jengoro and Hisako Nitta. Services honoring him will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1300 Maui Lani Parkway, on Monday, January 27, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Maui Memorial Park.
