Nobuo “Dyke” Tengan, 89, of Wailuku passed away peacefully on February 8, 2017 at Maui Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Services honoring Mr. Tengan were held privately. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements. Nobuo was born on May 5, 1927 to Teishin & Tara Tengan. He was the ninth of twelve children. After graduating from Baldwin high school, Nobuo proudly served in the U.S. Army and upon his return, became a mechanic with Maui Land & Pineapple Co., retiring in 1990. John Franklin Fernandez, 72, of Haiku, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2017 at his home. David Keith Miller, 68, of Makawao, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2017, at his residence under the care of Hospice Maui, with loving family and friends by his side. Charlotte Boteilho Asato, 76 of Kahului passed away February 5, 2017. She was born in Wailuku June 17, 1940 to Manuel and Rose Boteilho. Charlotte is survived by her son, Bobby (Ernette) Asato; grandchildren, Courtney, Blaine, Jared and Kalea Asato. She is predeceased by her son, Glenn Asato. Charlotte graduated from St Anthony High School, was a board member at MEO, secretary for the Maui Sub-Chapter of the Hawaii UPW Retiree Chapter 646 and retired from the Department of Education. She enjoyed her orchids, hula, puzzles and going holo holo. Private services were held.

Joseph Anthony Frye Sr., 79, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on February 7, 2017, at Kahuku Hospital in Kahuku, Oahu, Hawaii. He was born on July 27, 1937, in Camden, New Jersey. Joseph retired as the Fuel Truck Operator for Hawaiian Airlines Kahului, Maui Airport. He was a devoted member of the Maui Lion’s Club and an Army Veteran. Elaine Gildersleeve was born, the sixth of eight children, to George and Barbara Leno in North Dakota on July, 16, 1930. She passed away peacefully in her Kula, Maui, home on February 13, 2017. She married Murray Gildersleeve December 29, 1947, and they had five children, cared for two foster children, and dozens more called her ‘mom.’ A loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, auntie and friend, Elaine loved everyone with the tender, compassionate heart of a Christian and prayed for each one daily.
