Chiyoko Nakamura, 103

Chiyoko Nakamura, 103, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2016, under the care of Hospice Maui. Services were held privately at her family’s request. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements. Chiyoko was born on May 26, 1913 in Kahului.  She graduated from Maui High School and later married Robert Nakamura.  Chiyoko was a member of the Wailuku Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.  She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. Kazue Matsuoka Nakatani, 70, of Kahului, passed away on December 13, 2016 at home, with her loving family by her side and under the care of Island Hospice. Services honoring Mrs. Nakatani will be held at Kahului Hongwanji on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 4:30pm. Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with arrangements. Vincent “Vince” Paiva Jr, 65 of Pukalani passed away December 9, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice Maui.  He was born in Wailuku on March 16, 1951. A Memorial Service will be held at Ballard Family Mortuary in Kahului on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 9:00am-11:00am with a prayer service at 11:00am. Steven Walsh died on December 17, 2016 under the care of Maui Hospice. He was born on December 26, 1950 in Omaha Nebraska. Steven was co-owner of Kihana Nursery. Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Genevieve Walsh. He is survived by his wife, Laureen; daughters Seana, Megan and Kaitlin; son, Kevin and his wife Illaly; grandchildren, Emma, Asher and Caius; brothers, Gerald Jr. and wife Dorothy, Scott and wife Mildred; sister, Colleen Walsh; loving nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Anna Aikala Lowery, 74, of Kihei, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2016 with her loving husband by her side. Donald O. Gross, 83, Born 21 Nov  1933- 29 Dec 2016. Born in Oliver Springs, TN.  Graduated  from Oliver Springs High School. After working with a construction company where he met his future wife, Wilma L Inman, he joined the Air Force and served his country for 28 years before retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant.  His last assignment found him at Hickam AFB. He retired in Hawaii where he lived on Maui.  While in the military, he was very active with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a council member and helping his boys while they were scouts.
