Arnold V. Herrick, 82

Arnold V. Herrick of Makawao passed away on December 14, 2016 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. For 49 days he fought to survive after an auto accident. Arnold was born on March 12, 1934 in Olympia, Washington. Visitation will be held from 830-930am on Friday January 13, 2017. At St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1294 Makawao Ave. in Makawao.  The funeral mass begins at 9:30am.  The internment will follow after mass at Maui Veterans’ cemetery on Baldwin Ave. in Makawao at 11am. Kimie Ellen Horiuchi, 91, of Pukalani, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2016 at the Hospice Maui Hale, with her loving family by her side.  Private Services were held with the assistance of Nakamura Mortuary. Kimie was born on May 15, 1925 in Kealia, Kona to Shigematsu & Nanae Omori, she was the third of eight children. She enjoyed watching UH volleyball, Korean Dramas and travelling to Las Vegas to play her favorite Blazing Sevens slots. Alice Sachiko Ito, 87, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully at Hale Makua Kahului on November 25, 2016. Services honoring Mrs. Ito were held privately at her request. Alice was born on June 7, 1929 in Wailuku, Maui.  She graduated from Lahaina Luna high school.  She married her love, Henry Ito and together they had one child.  They also owned and operated the Henry Ito Orchid Nursery.  After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dolores Sablay Larita, 59, of Kihei, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2016 at her residence with loving family by her side. Chiyoko Nakamura, 103, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2016, under the care of Hospice Maui. Services were held privately at her family’s request. Chiyoko was born on May 26, 1913 in Kahului.  She graduated from Maui High School and later married Robert Nakamura.  Chiyoko was a member of the Wailuku Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.  She was a wonderful mother and homemaker.
