Letter: In favor of moving Maui Public Works Baseyard
We were very excited when we heard the news that Mayor Richard Bissen is in favor of moving the Maui County Public Works Baseyard out of the residential zone it is now in on Kaohu Street and into a more remote location.
Ever since the baseyard inherited all those garbage trucks, (shouldn’t they be with Environmental Management?) our neighborhood has become noisier, stinkier and more dangerous.
Kudos to our mayor for recognizing that this old baseyard has become obsolete and that location could be wonderful for some apartments — some affordable housing.
