Kihei football standout deserves recognition

My late wife Jeanne and I moved from Maryland to South Kihei in 2005. Soon we began spending Friday evenings as members of Kalama Park Action Team.  We’d make a full tour of this vast park, starting from the paddle club in the south up to the northern end tennis and hoop courts, stopping off at the skate rink, the ball fields and whale in the middle across from Foodland. Will never be accurate accounting of disaster

I read the mayors recent speech about the state of the county. There was one thing noticeably missing from this emotional love fest: Who is responsible for this preventable tragedy? Anyone who can still think knows it was gross incompetence and mismanagement on the part of the Maui government. The threat from brush and dry grasses above Lahaina had been known for years and yet nothing was done. The electrical infrastructure was a known threat. By blessing others, we find goodness of God

During this Lenten season as we approach Easter, I wish to proclaim the overwhelming goodness of the only begotten son of the one most high, Jesus Christ. And that despite all the tragedy, and calamity, pain and distress that we encounter in this life, God’s love is real.  How can we come to know this? Through prayer. And here is a truth about prayer.  We do not need to understand in order to pray. And though we may doubt, and question, we must pray.  Prayer will allow us to discover and to know truth. Compliments to EMS at Maui Memorial

Recently, I had to go to the emergency room at Maui Memorial Medical Center. The staff was welcoming, courteous and friendly; they were also very efficient. During my almost three hours there, they made me feel comfortable and at ease, and I received necessary tests to ensure that nothing went unnoted. Kudos to EMS. They were wonderful. We’re no better than Russia democrats love to demonize

I laughed when I read the guest editorial March 16 from The Guardian which explains the Russian elections and constitution, and goes on to proclaim that it doesn’t matter because Putin will win again, apparently due to corruption. Now replace references to Russia and Putin with America and Biden. That’s where we are today also. So, we are no better than the country that democrats love to demonize. Human beings seem to possess an intuitive, innate or heartfelt sense or belief in a presence, principle or person that pervades all things and beings with its grace or energy. We also have an intense desire or aspiration to become more perfect; to find truth and joy; and to seek, find, follow and become the path to immortality.
