Rainbow Warriors drop four-set match to Cougars

The second-ranked University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team suffered just its third loss of the season, losing to No. 4 Brigham Young 20-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-23 on Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Stijn van Tilburg led the Rainbow Warriors (13-3) with 16 kills. Austin Matautia had 11 kills and five aces, and King Kekaulike High School graduate Colton Cowell added two kills on four attempts, an assist and an ace.

Storm Faagata-Tufuga had 16 kills and Brenden Sander added 12 kills for the Cougars (17-4), who claimed the Outrigger Resorts Invitational title.

UH next plays at Cal State Northridge on Thursday.
