Majkus’ buzzer-beater lifts Pine Lasses over Farmers

Mia Majkus hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Lanai High School girls basketball team to a 37-34 victory over Molokai on Saturday in Lanai City.
Majkus finished with 10 points and Alexa Pascual scored 12 for the Pine Lasses (8-0), who clinched the Maui Interscholastic League Division II regular-season title and a state tournament berth with the win.
It wasn’t easy — the game was tied at 11 after the first quarter and at 15 at halftime before the Farmers (6-2) took a slim 25-24 lead heading into the fourth.
Leila Hooper-Phifer led Molokai with 14 points.
