Seabury defeats Hana in football opener
Seabury Hall defeated Hana 19- 12 in their season-opening football game Saturday in Hana.
Playing in the Maui Interscholastic League’s eight-player division, Seabury scored 12 unanswered points in the first half, but Hana started coming back, scoring a touchdown each in the third and fourth quarters.
In the first quarter, Seabury quarterback Carson Hollifield ran for a two-yard touchdown. Hana’s Micah Aquino blocked Seabury’s extra point kick attempt.
Seabury’s Liam Dunne ran for a touchdown in the second quarter.
Hana quarterback Kaya-Hoku Rodrigues threw a 52-yard pass to Jordan Kekona-Helekahi for a touchdown in the third and a 6-yard TD pass to Kekona-Helekahi in the fourth quarter.
Seabury defensive back Cash Driftmier had six sacks in the game, while Hana defensive backs Maui Lind and Nalu Mauliola both had an interception.
In other football games last week, King Kekaulike High School defeated Morrow Bay in pre-season football, 68-41, on Saturday.
Kekaulike’s Wayne Kahula rushed for 268 yards and 5 touchdowns in the game.
Additionally, Kamehameha Maui defeated Radford 53-14 on Saturday.
In high school football games on Maui this week, the Maui High Sabers will play against King Kekaulike at King Kekaulike High School on Friday.
The Baldwin High Bears will compete against Kamehameha Schools Maui at Kamehameha Schools at 7 p.m. Saturday.
In an eight-player competition, Seabury Hall will play Lanai at 9 a.m. Saturday on Lanai.
