Kaʻapuni boys hoops tournament features high-caliber teams squaring off this week on Maui

The 2025 Kaʻapuni Basketball Tournament starts Wednesday with one of its strongest fields to date. The tournament will be played at Baldwin High School’s Jon Garcia Gymnasium and Seabury Hall’s Erdman Athletic Center, featuring six teams that are entering the season as reigning league champions. The tournament action will continue through Saturday. HONOLULU — Micah Alejado and Cam Barfield each accounted for two touchdowns, Kansei Matsuzawa tied two records, and Hawaii beat Wyoming 27-7 on Saturday night the regular-season finale for both teams. Alejado was 17-of-24 passing for 289 yards and threw for TDs of 19 yards to Barfield and 78 yards to Jackson Harris. Kamehameha Schools Maui powered past Waimea 48-24 on Friday to capture its second straight Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II football state championship.
