HONOLULU (AP) - The former head of the Honolulu Police Department's white collar crime unit has joined the Honolulu prosecutor's office.Thanks to a federal grant, Chris Duque will serve as an investigator in the prosecuting attorney's white collar crime unit.The prosecutor's office says Duque is one of Hawaii's leading cybercrimes investigators.Prosecuting Attorney Keith Kaneshiro said in a statement this week that cybercrimes are a major threat because they can involve anything from identity theft to financial fraud to child pornography.Duque was also instrumental in forming the Hawaii ...

The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui donated four Sony and Compaq computers recently to the student newspaper at the University of Hawaii Maui College.Ho'oulu, an online publication that will transition to print in August, will use the computers in its newsroom to help cover campus news."We are so grateful to the (resort) for this generous donation," faculty adviser Sarah Ruppenthal said in a news release. Hoku Corp. files for bankruptcyPOCATELLO, Idaho - Hoku Corp., the parent company of a polysilicon manufacturing plant in eastern Idaho, has filed for bankruptcy in Pocatello federal court, reporting debt at nearly $1 billion.Honolulu-based Hoku, which owns Hoku Materials, made the Chapter 7 filing Tuesday, The Idaho State Journal reported.Hoku Materials started building the $700-million plant five years ago as interest in solar energy grew and polysilicon prices rose.But then polysilicon prices began to plummet.
