65 more inmates, 2 staff test positive

The COVID-19 cluster at the Maui Community Correctional Center grew to 155, with the state Department of Public Safety reporting Monday that 65 additional inmates and two staff members had tested positive for the virus. The department also reported that 71 inmates and 27 employees had tested negative for COVID. The cases at the Wailuku jail include 151 inmates and four staff members. The cluster, which had its first inmate case reported Jan. 3, is the largest of three COVID outbreaks at the jail since last year.
