Positive COVID-19 test results were reported Tuesday for four inmates and one staff member at the Maui Community Correctional Center, raising the number of active cases to 39. Four negative inmate test results and three staff recoveries also were reported by the state Department of Public Safety, resulting in five active employee cases and 34 active inmate cases at the Wailuku jail. The 34 inmates with active COVID-19 cases were in medical isolation, the department reported.

Hui No Ke Ola Pono will host a COVID-19 booster shot clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the J. Walter Cameron Center Auditorium in Wailuku. The clinic is being held ahead of a new Maui County rule set to go into effect on Monday that will change the definition of “fully vaccinated” to include a booster shot.
