St. Joseph at Kaupo sets 1st 2021 Mass St. Joseph Mission Church at Kaupo will celebrate its first Mass of 2021 at noon May 30. Mass is celebrated when there is a fifth Sunday in any given month, and these occasions are very special. A potluck will take place after Mass. St. Joseph Mission Church at Kaupo is located between Mile Markers 33 and 34 on Piilani Highway. Social distancing should be followed between people of different households. Masks are required inside the church.

Makawao Hongwanji Buddhist Temple on March 25 will mark one year since the main gate and front doors were closed due to COVID-19. Since then, the mission continues livestreams of daily sunrise service, Eitaikyo chanting in columbarium, chanting the Shoshinge and weekly Virtual Dharma Family Service. Besides virtual services on Facebook and YouTube, Makawao Hongwanji hosts Children’s Dharma School this Sunday and Family Dharma Services on March 21 and 28. Hope Chapel holds in-person services Hope Chapel in Kihei is hosting in-person services at 6:30 p.m. Fridays and 8:30 a.m. Sundays under the tent outside in the courtyard. Social distancing guidelines will be observed, touchless hand-sanitizer stations will be available and mask-wearing will be encouraged.
