St. Joseph to hold holiday services St. Joseph Catholic Church will kick off a month of holiday services with a vigil mass at 6:30 p.m. Monday to observe the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Two other services will follow at 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The church at 1294 Makawao Ave. also plans to hold a Parish Advent Service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Misa De Gallo at 6 a.m. Dec. 16 through 24. There will be an annual blessing of the animals service at 10 a.m. Dec. 5 at Keawala‘i Congregational Church in Makena. Churches celebrate the blessing of animals in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures. At Keawala‘i, it has become a tradition that the blessing is held in December. Readings, prayers and a blessing will be offered as well as pictures with Santa. Good Shepherd Episcopal Church of Wailuku and Trinity Episcopal Church by-the-Sea of Kihei will hold their Thanksgiving services together at 9 a.m. Thursday in Trinity’s outdoor sanctuary at 100 Kulanihakoi St. in Kihei. The Rev. Moki Hino will be the celebrant at Holy Eucharist.  There will be a basket available for collection of non-perishable food items which will be given to the Maui Food Bank and the Thanksgiving morning offertory will be given to A Cup of Cold Water, a local ministry to the homeless. Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Ministries will be speaking in person at Harvest Kumulani Chapel from 8 to 10 a.m. Nov. 15. Laurie’s 2020 cinematic crusade, “A Rush of Hope” released in September, has reached more than 1.8 million people worldwide, with over 100,000 making professions of faith, deciding to follow Jesus, according to a news release.  Harvest at Kumulani Chapel is on Office Road in Kapalua, across the street from Honolua General Store. In honor and in commemoration of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, all animals present (live, pictured or stuffed) will receive individual blessings.
